Bangkok Places: 5 Things to Do in Nonthaburi

If you’re looking to keep the kids entertained in Nonthaburi, covering Chaengwattana and Pakkred, you’ll quickly discover a variety of fun-filled attractions to satisfy all ages and interests. Here are our 5 of our recommendations.

1. Blue Monkey World

This sprawling indoor playground is guaranteed to put big smiles on little faces. The lower level is a dedicated soft play area featuring a large climbing frame with slides, climbing nets, padded obstacles, swings, a ball pit, a trampoline and an interactive floor game complete with lights. There’s also a separate space set-up for arts and crafts. Upstairs, there’s a miniature faux town intended to encourage interactive play.

2. Peuan Deratchan Zoo

Especially suited for younger kids, this privately-funded mini zoo (with free admission) offers the opportunity to have an up close encounter with a variety of animals from around the world. The zoo has up to 40 different species including macaws, monkeys, albino pythons, chameleons and dwarf crocodiles. Kids and adults can step inside a cage full of plodding tortoises and exotic birds, and those brave enough can have their picture taken while holding a snake.

3. Tooney Toy Museum

Grownups can quickly end up turning into big kids at this sprawling two-floor museum in the Pakkred district of Nonthaburi. Amid the huge collection of toys, dolls and figurines (there’s over 100,000 items in total!), you’ll find everything from Disney cartoon characters and LEGO® Minifigures to Tomica die-cast cars and Japanese Gundam robots. For lovers of Asian and western comic books and movies, consider this their dream day out. After exploring the museum, swing by the on-site cafe for a bite to eat.

4. Ko Kret

Located 20km north of Bangkok, this artificial island in the Chao Phraya River serves as the capital’s very own green getaway. Day trippers to this remote island come to stroll among centuries-old temples, luscious rice paddies, and soak up a laid-back pace of life. The majority of the island’s inhabitants are also of Mon heritage – ancestors of the tribes who migrated into Thailand in the mid-18th century. Along with a unique cultural trip, you can enjoy family bike rides among swaying coconut trees, catch pottery demonstrations at Kwan Arman, and sample speciality Mon dishes including fish cakes with kala shoots.

5. IMPACT Speed Park

Perched beside Muang Thong Thani waterfront, IMPACT Speed Park offers an adrenalin-fueled go-karting experience for kids and adults alike. You’ll get to tear around a purpose-built race track in a fleet of state-of-the-art Sodi RTX electric go-karts. Digital screens let you monitor what’s happening out on the track. And those that want some extra driving practice can hop on the driving simulator. For kids ages 7+; a minimum height of 120 cm applies.
