Review of Totem Kingdom, Bangna

Bangna is increasingly catering to families these days. It seems that there are more and more places cropping up for take kids for all kinds of play experiences.

Jas Urban opened a couple of months ago and is a fantastic part indoor, part outdoor shopping mall on Srinakarin on the way to Samut Prakan. It’s been designed to incorporate a range of family friendly areas from resting, to shopping, to eating. But let’s talk about play. We simply went to test drive the ‘playing’ and we weren’t disappointed. Just running, sweating, jumping and laughing… which we did a lot of!

Specifically, we visit Totem Kingdom, found on the second floor above Tops Supermarket. The design indoors is set to reflect a form of Aztec jungle with animal totem poles, and imitation plant life everywhere.

We went midweek so parking was not a problem. However, it was busy inside Totem Kingdom, and quite warm. Possibly because it’s Thai school holidays at the moment, but I was shocked at how many kids were there on a Tuesday afternoon.

Totem is aimed at 10 and under, although there is an area there with trampolines for children 105 cms tall and over. It is a sensory overload for younger children. We went with our 3 year old and 1 year old. Both loved every section we took them too.

There are climbing frames, smaller trampolines, projections on the walls and the trampolines, slides, rockers, a huge ball pit, an area to fire soft balls at one another, cars you can pushed around in, music, and a role play area to name a few of the highlights. Two hours was not long enough. We could have spent a whole day there.

The staff were really friendly, hands on and ready to play with anyone whether they were engaged in an activity or looking a little lost.

It cost 350 baht for a day pass, or 200 baht for 2 hours on a weekday (weekend rates are a bit higher) per child; adults or guardians pay 100 baht to accompany a child. You must bring socks, or buy socks there and there’s no where indoors to buy food, only bottles of water. We took our own picnic but there are a lot of places in the mall where you can pick up food.

Also, just outside the mall there is a lovely play area that has a small climbing frame and fixed in rocking toys, as well as a small arcade area where you can buy tokens and ride on dinosaurs, play in trains and cars, and play games.

It’s easily a day long activity and will guarantee to be wonderful for everyone involved.
