How the IB Curriculum Sets your Child up for Success

KIS 25 years logo

The International Baccalaureate (IB) has earned a reputation for its rigorous academic curriculum, but what truly sets IB apart is its holistic approach to education, deeply rooted in the IB Learner Profile. This profile encompasses qualities such as being knowledgeable, caring, inquisitive, and principled. The IB curriculum, guided by the Learner Profile, not only prepares students for academic success but also equips them with the values and skills needed to thrive in higher education and life.

The IB’s rigorous curriculum promotes deep subject exploration, setting a strong foundation for university studies.

IB emphasizes critical thinking and research skills through projects like the Extended Essay, preparing students for university-level research and analysis.

IB’s focus on languages and global perspectives equips students with a multicultural outlook, valuable in an interconnected world.

The Creativity, Activity, and Service (CAS) component fosters compassion and social responsibility, instilling a lifelong commitment to giving back.

IB challenges students, promoting adaptability and resilience, vital skills for university and beyond.

IB encourages students to address real-world issues, preparing them to tackle complex challenges and make a meaningful impact in society.

While joining the IB program at any grade level is a valuable opportunity, experiencing the full continuum allows students to benefit from a seamless and integrated educational journey that nurtures holistic development, global perspectives, and a strong sense of purpose. It’s like building a sturdy house from the ground up, with each level reinforcing the next, ultimately creating a well-rounded and empowered individual ready to excel in university and make a positive impact in the world.

KIS International School is the only school in Bangkok to offer all four IB programs:

  • The Primary Years Programme (PYP)
  • The Middle Years Programme (MYP)
  • The Diploma Programme (DP)
  • The Career-related Programme (CP)

While it’s important to recognize that different curricula suit different students, the International Baccalaureate program stands out for its comprehensive approach to education. By offering a combination of academic rigor, critical thinking skills, global perspective, and a commitment to service, IB prepares students not only for success in university but also for a well-rounded and fulfilling life beyond academia. While it may not be the only path to success, the IB program unquestionably equips students with the tools and mindset needed to excel in an increasingly competitive and interconnected world.
