Have you been looking for a dance school for your child in Bangkok? Footloose & Co, based on Sukhumvit Soi 26, provides a wide variety of dance classes and holiday camps for children aged 4 to 15.
The school is the brainchild of Sacha Lamey, Bangkok based mum of three, who struggled to find dance classes for her girls outside of their school environment.
Recognising this need, Footloose & Co was born earlier this year. Sacha teamed up with the extremely talented and experienced US dance teacher and choreographer, Tim Fournier. Classes currently on offer include Hip Hop, Tap, Contemporary /Jazz, Kinderdance (for our youngest students), adult dance fitness classes and holiday dance camps.
Our philosophy is to make dance and movement fun but also to ensure that it is grounded in good technique. Dance not only provides a constructive outlet for our students’ physical energy, it also provides a space for emotional release and social interaction away from digital devices and the school environment. Dancing also improves muscle tone and coordination, which can help with fine and gross motor skills and concentration. This translates directly to classroom skills such as improved handwriting and attention span.
We believe that it is necessary to provide our students with a strong technical foundation. With this in mind, we ensure all classes include an element of strength, flexibility and technique training. We also believe it is important that training is delivered in English, by a native English speaker, to ensure that communication is as fluid as possible. There is little benefit to a child repeating a move over and over again if they don’t understand why, and the effects it is having on their body. Communication is power!
We are very proud to be able to provide opportunities for our students that are innovative and not commonly available in Bangkok. The first opportunity is to compete in the USA in June 2019 as part of a team for the American Dance Awards. The second is the opportunity for Footloose & Co students of dance live on stage in Bangkok, on the 7th of December 2018, for our Radio City Christmas Spectacular! Both opportunities are about working to a purpose as well as building self-confidence and self-esteem. As parents, this last point is particularly important for both Sacha and Tim.
In addition to providing dance classes for adults and children, Footloose & Co is also an events company. We are proud to present a professional dance troupe who, along with a number of protégé students, will be performing a dance spectacular to the musical score of the hit film, The Greatest Showman. This event will be held at the Novotel Sukhumvit Soi 20 on Thursday, the 20th of September. Tickets for both adults and children will include a 2-course dinner, free beverages for children, discount on alcoholic beverages for adults and a great raffle prize to be won by a lucky ticket holder. It promises to be a spectacular show and a fun dinner theatre experience for all the family.
