Child-friendly Resorts in Pattaya

Less than two hours from Bangkok by car, Pattaya offers beaches, water parks and many other child-friendly attractions. From themed resorts to boutique hideaways, here are five hotels that offer families everything they need for a great weekend getaway.

Centara Grand Mirage Beach Resort
Situated on Wong Amat Beach and Na Kluea Beach in North Pattaya, the 555-room Centara Grand Mirage Beach Resort incorporates a “Lost World” theme into a luxurious setting. The resort houses its own beachfront water park, comprised of a dozen slides, lazy river, waterfalls and rope bridges. It also boasts five swimming pools, including a dedicated children’s pool. The Camp Safari Kids’ Club offers daily activities for children aged 4 to 9, while an E-Zone provides teens with their own space for playing video games. Other activities include water sports, tennis and rock climbing.

Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya
Situated along Pattaya Beach Road, Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya offers many amenities for kids – with the franchise’s signature rock and roll vibe. The hotel’s Family Suite accommodates two adults and two children (below 12 years of age), providing bunk beds, video games, beach toys, junior bathrobes and slippers for the kids. Catering to children aged 3 to 12 years old, the Lil’ Rock kids’ club features babysitting services, crafts, games and movies. Children will also enjoy swimming in the 2,000 square metre pool, playing in the large beach-sand pool area and joining the Family Foam Party every Saturday evening.

Sheraton Pattaya Resort
On Phratamnak Road, Sheraton Pattaya Resort provides spacious rooms laid out in a tiered formation on tranquil and verdant hills — an ideal setting for a relaxing weekend away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. Families can swim or lounge at one of three large pools, including one geared for children. A private oceanfront beach, while on the small side, offers fun in the sun without the crowds or vendors. The property has quite a lot of steps, which may not be ideal for toddlers. However, golf carts are used to shuttle guests up and down the levels, and the beach can be accessed by a lift.

Birds and Bees Resort
Located at the end of a quiet soi off Phratamnak Road, Birds and Bees Resort offers a unique, fun getaway for the whole family. The 54-room resort sports a rustic feel and quirky condom theme (resort founder Khun Meechai Viravaidya is a former Thai senator and prominent family planning activist) with all the necessary amenities. The main draws include two pools, including one just for kids; a semi-private beach on Hu Kwang Bay; and a treetop restaurant. Kids will also love the resort’s jungle-like landscaping, flowing streams, fish-feeding stations atop various bridges and free-roaming bunnies. There is also a wishing well, exercise bikes used to power an irrigation system for the herb garden and a small organic farm (with chickens that listen to classical music!).

Rabbit Resort Pattaya
Occupying a stretch of oceanfront land on Dongtan Beach, south of Pattaya, Rabbit Resort houses 49 beautiful Thai villas in a lush, peaceful setting. Most villas are spacious 2-story units with kitchenettes (and one even offers a washer/dryer), but smaller, single-floor accommodations are also available. Aside from playing on the beach, kids will enjoy exploring the verdant grounds, spotting many varieties of birds and butterflies (despite its name, there are no rabbits here). Teens may also enjoy various water sports, including windsurfing, kite surfing, canoeing and sailing. The resort also provides two freeform pools, one for adults and one for families.
