Inclusion at Regents
At Regents, we pride ourselves on fostering a high-quality, inclusive learning environment that values students’ well-being, dignity, autonomy, and contributions to society. This involves a continuous process of eliminating barriers to education, setting high expectations for all students, and committing to quality first teaching. This ensures that every child receives the support they need to thrive.
Recognising and accepting neurodiversity is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that every student’s unique perspective enriches our community and enhances the learning experience for all. We are building a culture that affirms the identities and communication, and learning preferences of all students by promoting a strengths-based approach.
We promote whole-school adaptive teaching strategies to ensure that individual student needs are met and that all students are engaged and can access the curriculum effectively. This approach allows for differentiation in teaching methods, resources, and learning activities, ensuring that each child can succeed in their learning journey.
For students who are identified as needing extra help but not currently receiving support, we will carry out a thorough assessment to better understand their individual needs. From there, we’ll work closely with parents to develop a personalised support plan tailored just for them. For new students who may benefit from additional support, we offer a trial period of up to three days. During this time, our team will observe and consult with both staff and parents to help shape a customised plan that sets your child up for success.
Our Incusion Team
Our dedicated Inclusion team is committed to supporting students who are learning English as an additional language, as well as those with additional learning needs. Specialist EAL teachers deliver high-quality, engaging lessons to support students at their current proficiency level. Students receive direct and explicit instruction in phonics and reading, grammar and writing, and vocabulary development. Speaking and listening practice are integrated into classroom lessons and learning. For students who require additional learning support, we provide personalised small group, 1:1, and push-in support, enabling them to make progress and achieve their full potential. This comprehensive approach ensures that every student can thrive academically and socially within our inclusive school community.
