King’s Cup Elephant Boat Races and River Festival, 2019

Enjoy a fun weekend on 29 to 31 March 2019, from 12 noon till late each day, at the inaugural King’s Cup Elephant Boat Race and River Festival. Taking place next to Anantara Riverside Bangkok, this new event includes an electric competition on the Chao Phraya River, as international teams participate in an age-old cultural tradition of dragon boat racing. However, this time, they will be paddling unique elephant themed and designed boats on the river. Come and watch the exciting races from the river banks!

There will also be loads of entertainment for parents and kids alike. Whilst the teams battle it out on the Chao Phraya River, on-land activities include a digital dry dock rowing tournament (with luxury prizes and holidays to be won), the Old Siam themed Ladies Day (on Saturday, 30 March, with best dressed awards), musical concerts by J Jetrin, New Jiew, Atom and Singto Numchok, and games for the kids.

The Food Village promises a range of culinary delights, with offerings from R.HAAN, Chef Pom, Kuppa, Pizza Massilia, Trader Vic’s and more. Also, pop by the champagne tents and beer gardens for some drinks.

The cost is 200 baht per one-day adult pass; children under 12 are admitted free of charge. There are also VIP party packages available. Tickets can be purchased online. All proceeds will be used to support charitable initiatives to improve the lives of the captive and wild elephant population in Asia.

How to get to the event:

  • Next to the Anantara Riverside Bangkok
  • BTS: Krung Thonburi – 5 minute taxi ride to the event
  • BOAT: Free Anantara Shuttle boat from Taksin Pier – Free tuk tuk shuttle to the event
  • CAR: Free parking available at the event
