Fotona Laser Skin Resurfacing

If you’re looking for a way to tackle skin problems such as wrinkles, fine lines, uneven skin textures, scars, etc., but are worried about having to go through invasive surgery, the Fotona laser skin resurfacing treatment may be right for you.

Why Fotona?

Fotona laser skin resurfacing is a skin treatment that utilises two different laser wavelengths as part of one treatment; with one laser focusing on the deep layers of the skin and the other focusing on the surface layers of the skin. When compared to more traditional skin treatment methods such as chemical peels and dermabrasion, Fotona laser skin resurfacing allows for much more precise and accurate control during treatment, leading to better results for each individual patient. Fotona laser skin resurfacing is able to offer customized treatments based on the laser’s wide range of capabilities, and doctors are able target a patient’s skin issues without damaging the surrounding healthy skin.

Fotona laser skin resurfacing is suitable for all skin types and skin tones, and requires less recovery time than other, more traditional, treatment methods.

The Two Lasers

Fotona laser skin resurfacing utilizes the Twinlight Fractional Rejuvenation method, a procedure which involves two laser wavelengths working together — the Nd:YAG laser and the Er:YAG laser.

  • The Fotona Nd:YAG laser rejuvenates and stimulates the skin.
  • The Fotona Er:YAG laser allows for the ability of new, tighter skin to form.

The Procedure

Prior to undergoing the procedure, patients will need to meet with the doctor for a consultation to discuss the desired end result, as well as what to expect during the procedure. An appointment for the procedure can be scheduled after the consultation.

The Fotona laser skin resurfacing procedure involves 3 steps:

  1. Conditioning: The Nd:YAG beam passes along the skin’s surface twice: first to stimulate the skin, and again to heat and condition the skin in preparation for the next step.
  2. Fractional Therapy: The Er:YAG laser ablates old skin, allowing for new, tighter skin to form in time.
  3. Peeling: The skin is ablated again once more with a light full Er:YAG beam to remove any superficial imperfections.
The entire procedure takes approximately 1 hour to complete. If needed, patients are able to undergo additional treatments but must wait 1-2 months in between each appointment in order to fully heal.
