Faidee Kids Camp in October 2016

With a belief that child development starts from their hearts, the Mae Fah Luang Foundation (MFLF) under Royal Patronage and the Rabbit in the Moon Foundation jointly organise the “Faidee Kids Camp” every October. The camp aims to fulfil one of the visions of Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra and the MFLF’s mission to ‘cultivate people.’ It is designed specifically for urban children, who are living under the influence of the technological world, to learn and appreciate the beauty of nature through the combination of science and art.

This year, the Faidee Kids Camp, held for the fourth year, builds upon the concept of “creating love through aesthetics.” It has an end goal of providing city children with inspirations from Mother Nature — revered as both science and art teacher. Apart from the outdoor education in the mountains of Chiang Rai, the children will have access to cultural diversity and witness the peaceful coexistence between the communities and the environment. The camp specifically emphasises the use of reason and art as a medium to foster a creative learning journey that leads to long-lasting knowledge.

Learning activities, conducted in both Thai and English, include:

  1. The life story of the late Princess Mother, patron of the Foundation, and her love for nature including her hobbies such as handcraft dried flowers pressing and her “home” at the Doi Tung Royal Villa
  2. Seeds of Ooos and Ahhs: getting to know Mother Nature, the creator and distributor of assorted plant seeds that sprout into various forms
  3. An amazing story of life: making a connection of our true selves with the miracle of life that surrounds us through the touch and feel of the fertile forest
  4. Local communities’ way of life with nature: broadening the perspective of children to include a look at the lives of rural communities and the diversity of hill tribe traditions

The Faidee Kids Camp is suitable for children ages 9 to 12 years; applications are open from now until 15 September 2016. The admission fee is 28,500 baht per person (the price includes round-trip air ticket from Bangkok to Chiang Rai, four nights of accommodations, transportation, activities, and all other expenses).

The camp is divided into 3 groups of 35 children:
Group 6:   4-8   October   2016   (full)
Group 7:   11-15 October   2016
Group 8:   18-22 October  2016
