Birthday Party Ideas for Kids Under 5

If you’re short on ideas for birthday parties for the pre-school set, below are some ideas to consider.

“Traditional” Themed Party

Throw a bash at a venue such as Little Footsteps. Created by two sisters, this airy and inviting space includes a library, arts and crafts room, cooking room, singing and dancing room and more. It’s the perfect place for a customized themed birthday party for toddlers, where all the activities are fun, age-appropriate — and promote learning through play!

Another good party venue includes Juno Park, located in Gateway Mall (Ekamai BTS). They organize private 2-hour parties for up to 15 children with themed décor, invitations, games, toys, food, drinks, a 2-pound cake and a party host to lead the activities. Parents also have the option of adding face painting, an art workshop, goodie bags, a clown/magician, bubble machine and more.

Garden Party

A simple outdoor party at one of Bangkok’s lovely parks also works well for toddlers and young children. Combine time in the playground and perhaps a fish-feeding session with a small picnic, cupcakes or other festive treats, and you’re all set! Lumpini Park and Benjasiri Park are great venues – both are easily accessible with good playgrounds and shady enclaves.

To take the garden party idea a step further, consider hosting your special occasion at The Gardens restaurant, a former colonial palace that features tropical gardens populated by rabbits, peacocks and swans. Kids are free to explore and play in this natural environment, and they will enjoy spotting and feeding the animals. Dining options include a special kids menu with a wide selection of child-friendly fare.

Pool Party

For children ages 4 and up, have a party in the pool! Reputable swim schools such as Bangkok Dolphins and Lets Asia can set it all up for you, either at your own pool or on their respective kid-friendly premises. Both schools organize hour-long pool games for the kids, regardless of their swimming ability, from team games, diving activities, sliding mats and more.

Football Party

CUKI Tots offers 90 minutes of football games at Polo Football Park for 15 to 20 kids, from 3 to 6 years of age; they can also host a party in a venue of your choice. Two lead coaches will facilitate the activities and a mascot makes a special appearance. In addition, the birthday boy or girl receives a trophy, while each guest takes home a medal.

Kiddy-Kicks also hosts football parties, usually at Arena 10 or Polo Football Park, beginning with fun warm-up exercises and games for the children, from ages 3 and up. This is followed by a mini world cup, where parents may also enter the competition! Afterwards, three ‘Best Players of the Birthday’ are rewarded with medals, and everyone can enjoy cake. Party details can be tailored to your needs and preferences.

“Music & Play” Party

Get the little ones to expend some energy at the Little Gym! With branches throughout Bangkok, including in Bangna, Thonglor, Emporium Tower and Rama 3, parties include full run of the facility, including use of all equipment such as balance bars, a zip line, tumbling mats, climbing structures and more. Also, birthday celebrations include instructor-led games and music tailored to the partygoers’ ages, starting from the age of 1. Alternatively, Gymboree also hosts birthdays for children ages 1 to 5. Choose a theme and the staff will create a party experience filled with activities and fun — all based on Gymboree’s development-enhancing programming centering around music and play.
