Play time is one of the best gifts we can give our kids, and in an ideal world, there would be many options and areas for kids to play with others in community environments, playgrounds and parks. However, here in Thailand, the heat and humidity (or downpours) sadly limit opportunities to enjoy outside play, and inside play is normally organised in a more structured way. An increasing focus on early learning, accompanied by the appeal of TV and computer games, has led to disappearing playgrounds and playtime, and this reduction in free play can negatively impact child development.
Lucky for us, there are many opportunities for our little ones to join playgroups in Bangkok, whether that is inside a large or small school environment, or inside activity centres that offer a wide variety of age-appropriate activities from free play to music interactions. Parents can choose to attend playgroups with their precious cargo or slowly start to leave them at the playgroup alone to encourage independence, which is a good springboard into their kindergarten years. The first time a child leaves their home environment to attend a playgroup can be a nervous and challenging experience for them (and their parents) but keep in mind the benefits far outweigh any negatives.
ABC Pathways English Playgroup
Our Playgroup classes aim to inspire students to feel comfortable in a school setting, interact positively with other children and of course mold the many skills they are developing at this age. The Playgroup programme is theme-based with students learning basic vocabulary related to 12 themes, for example, pets, family, zoo animals and musical instruments. Each class includes free play time, snacks, songs, story time and creative arts. These classes also include sensory play, STEAM based activities, introduction to letters and development of motor skills
Our Playgroup sessions cost THB 450/session. This includes snacks and all the art and craft materials
The English Playgroup sessions are held on Mondays & Wednesdays from 9:30 am -11:30 am.
The Mandarin Playgroup sessions are held on Thursdays from 9:30 am -11:30 am.
