Established in 2004 to help promote Thailand’s ‘creative economy’, the Thailand Creative and Design Centre (TCDC) Bangkok is housed in the Grand Postal Building on Chareon Krung Road (it was formerly located on the top floor of The Emporium Mall). The space is grounded on the idea that design and creativity cannot exist without cultural foundation and intellectual accumulation of knowledge.

TCDC thus integrates the ingeniousness of Thai society and culture with modern knowledge and technology. TCDC is, neither a school nor a research center, but a source of ‘intellectual entertainment’, inspiring and aspiring Thai society with creativity through international learning process; from exhibitions, talks, workshops, to a resource center sparking creativities in different dimensions.

The space encompasses a large design library with over 50,000 design books, and over 210 related publications from all over the world, as well as showcases inspiring and thought provoking domestic and international exhibitions. There is also a co-working space featuring a product showcase from new-face entrepreneurs and mini exhibitions; a Material & Design Innovation Center; and a Maker Space. The latter helps bring ideas to life with a cutting-edge 3D printer and CNC machine services.

On the whole, TCDC is suitable for older children and teens, who may enjoy some of the more interactive exhibitions as well as can use of the many resources. Occasionally, there are art activities geared towards younger kids.
