Open to the public in 1998, Santiphap Park was constructed on 0.3 square kilometres of land owned by the Crown Property Bureau. As its name suggests (‘santiphap’ means ‘peace’), this small neighbourhood park commemorates the end of World War II. The pond boasts a blackened bronze sculpture of a dove holding olive branches, and the park’s name at the entrance is in the handwriting of Buddhatas Phikkhu, a renowned monk, philosopher and pacifist.
This park offers a welcome respite from the busy Victory Monument area. It features wide footpaths and a running track, a good-sized playground, and many music-related activities. Kids and adults alike will enjoy relaxing on the verdant grounds and listening to jazzy tunes.
