Zumbathon Charity Event for Rak Jai Thai

On Sunday, 13 March, from 10am to noon, put on your most colourful duds and dance non-stop for your health while raising funds for others! The entire family is welcome to participate in this lively Zumbathon charity event, “Let’s Dance to Beat Heart Disease”, hosted by licensed Zumba instructor Sarah Davis. All 100% of the proceeds will go to the “Rak Jai Thai” (or “Healing Hearts”) program of the Bumrungrad Foundation, giving children born with heart defects a second chance in life. Every baht from tickets sales and donations will be matched by Bumrungrad International Hospital.

What is Zumba? Basically, it’s a fun cardio and strength-building exercise activity that involves dance and aerobic elements. Inspired by hip-hop, soca, samba, salsa, merengue and mambo, among other dance and music styles, Zumba is wildly popular across the globe, including in Bangkok. It can be tailored to different levels of age and exertion. This Zumbathon is open to everyone, and there will be a play corner for children who do not wish to take part in the workout (or need a break from the vigorous activity!).

The Rak Jai Thai program, a joint effort of the Bumrungrad Hospital Foundation and The Cardiac Children Foundation of Thailand, provides free operations to underprivileged Thai patients with congenital heart defects. Each year, almost 8,000 Thai children suffer from such conditions; nearly half require surgery to prevent death or serious physical limitations. Since the inception of the project in 2003, powered by efforts of Bumrungrad’s paediatric cardiologists and surgeons, more than 675 children from 50 provinces in Thailand have received heart surgeries.

Come support a great cause, while getting exercise, spending time with your family and having loads of fun!
