Theme Parks in Bangkok

From heart-in-your-mouth roller coasters to toddler-friendly waterparks, Bangkok can certainly lay claim to having its fair share of theme parks, with many just a short drive from the city centre. Here are some parks that are worth checking out for a fun-packed day out with the kids.

Fantasia Lagoon

Perched on the rooftop of The Mall Bang Khae shopping centre, Fantasia Lagoon feels like a well-kept secret. But this fantastic water park is definitely worth seeking out. Swimming pools, water slides and gushing fountains are spread out among a range of zones including Pirate Cove, Mystery Island and Magic Jungle. One floor below, there’s an indoor amusement park with various activities and rides to keep kids thoroughly entertained.

Skippy Water Land

Located at Plus Mall on Kanjanapisek Road in Thonburi, the relatively new and compact Skippy Water Land is the perfect summer outlet for young children, especially toddlers. Knee-deep water makes it a relatively safe environment for free play. The enclosure includes three large slides, a complex water playground, multiple fountains and toddler play features.

Dream World

There’s a full day of fun to be had at this sprawling theme park just a short drive out of Bangkok. Highlights for little ones include a sightseeing train, racing cars and the bump boats, while older children and teenagers will relish roller coasters like Space Mountain and the adrenalin-pumping Tornado – an attraction that whisks riders 7 storeys high and spins them around at 75 km/hr. There are also street acts, colourful parades and various themed play zones, including Snow Town – an icy land of powdered snow where kids get to sled down ice slides and build snowmen.

Harbin Ice Wonderland

In the sweltering heat of Bangkok, families with kids naturally need to seek out a place to cool down. And what better place to do just that than in the sub-zero temperatures of an indoor ice-world? Employing innovative advanced refrigeration technology, Harbin Ice Wonderland has created a winter wonderland at -15 ̊C, replete with simulated snow fall. This indoor park features various attractions, including a stunning miniature town of ice-carved global landmarks and an indoor snow slide. There’s also a play area for the little ones. Great fun for all!

Siam Park City

This multi-zoned amusement and waterpark is situated in the Khannayao district on the fringes of Bangkok. Older kids will love the thrilling rides and roller coasters of X-Zone, while those with younger ones will want to head over to Small World for the mini carousel, swan boats and Play Port. The park also has its own artificial beach and lays claim to the world’s largest wave pool. It’s worth noting that upgrades to Siam Park City are overdue, and a handful of rides will likely be closed for maintenance, but there’s still a decent day of fun to be had for all ages.

Snow Town (opening 1 July 2015)
Located on the fifth floor of the Gateway Ekamai mall, Snow Town will be the largest indoor artificial snow complex in Southeast Asia, covering over 3,000 square meters, with a Japanese theme. Expect restaurants from Hokkaido, shops and attractions, as well as snow 30 to 40 cm deep. The latter allows for skiing, snowboarding and snowball fights.
