Photographic Fun At Art In Paradise

I can’t believe we’ve lived in Bangkok all this time and never been to Art in Paradise. It is an amazing 3D art and optical illusion wonderland in Thailand. I can’t recommend art in paradise enough and it’s a perfect rainy day, hot day or even a pollution free day experience and we will definitely be back!

About Art In Paradise

Art in Paradise is the first 3D art museum in Bangkok and there are over 150 interactive mural style wall paintings spread out over the activity center, which really is very well done. Some of the pieces are exclusive to the Bangkok branch, they have centres in Pattaya and Chiang Mai too.

The activity center in Bangkok is on the 4th floor of the Esplanade Ratchadaphisek mall, which in itself is worth a visit as it has so many entertainment areas for kids and a really great food court in the basement.

The place is divided into 6 zones – Aquarium & Safari, Classic, Fantasy, Interactive, Nature and modern zones and it’s very easy to walk through each of the zones.

It took us just 30 minutes to reach The Esplanade shopping center by taxi from central Sukhumvit area or you can take MRT subway to Thailand Cultural Center (exit 3) and it’s a short 5 minute walk.

What We Loved Most

We spent 2 hours here but easily could have stayed longer, it really was a fun day out and, with hard to impress teens, that’s saying something! I can’t wait to come back with my younger relatives as the smaller kids were really getting into the photo frenzy!

Our favourite exhibits were the interactive safari scene, the giant cat, the piece where you sit inside a bubble (by far the most popular overall) and the 3D trick-eye pieces upstairs on the way out!

We took over 150 photos as there are many fun opportunities and a top tip is to download the Art in Paradise free app before you arrive so that you can make your own fully interactive videos; very Instagram worthy!

It’s really good value for money and the lady at the ticket desk was really helpful and told us to check their promotions on-line next time as they often have offers, especially for students. Children under 100cm are free and it would make a very cool place for a birthday party!

Things To Consider If You Go To Art In Paradise

You have to take off your shoes as you enter so it’s advisable to bring socks with you. A lot of the pieces now have video interactive points with QR scan codes on the floor so they have to keep the floors spotlessly clean. Also as you are lying down and crawling on the floors to get the perfect pictures, it’s nice to know they take their hygiene seriously!

Choose your timing when coming to Art in Paradise, as we were warned there are often long lines waiting at the more popular pieces, especially on holidays. We went at 4/6pm on a Saturday afternoon and didn’t have to wait for photos with any of the paintings.

A good idea is to also check the picture boards for ideas on how to insert yourself into the photos, we didn’t do this at first and some of the 3D trick eye pictures are quite difficult to figure-out! Remember that the video effects with animals jumping out of the walls are only visible when using your camera via their app. It really does give you a much better experience overall.
