Kid-Friendly Shows at Bangkok’s 20th International Festival of Dance & Music 

Bangkok’s 20th International Festival of Dance & Music will feature a wide range of artistic dance and music performances, including opera, ballet, symphony orchestra, jazz, contemporary dance and several breathtaking cultural shows. This year, the festival will run from September 12 to October 18, 2018 at the Main Hall of Thailand Cultural Centre.

MAGNIFICENT SEVEN, The International Magicians Society’s Top Seven Magicians and Illusionists of The World

The performance is a powerful, non-stop astonishing act that will thrill both children and adults. Expect an electrifying evening choreographed to perfection.

Synopsis: Natalia Kasatkina’s and Vladimir Vasilyov’s grand Moscow Classical Ballet is one of the leading ballet companies in Russia. Both Vasilyov and Kasatkina have been recognized as innovators who have developed new forms of choreography to define a new language in dance.

The Nutcracker brings together the dreams and imaginative powers of childhood to create a spectacle of virtuosic dance, inspired comedy and unbridled visual extravagance. On a sparkling Christmas Eve in a frost-dusted Edwardian London, Clara and her enchanted Nutcracker doll discover a magical world where she battles with the Mouse King and meets a handsome stranger. As the air grows colder, Clara and her valiant Nutcracker, take a hot air balloon ride across London to the glistening Land of Snow where her adventure really begins. This sparkling ballet is a favourite with families for a reason: it underlines the magic of Christmas and lets their imaginations run wild.

Synopsis: The Ugly Duckling is lonely and fed-up, ignored by those around her who think she is too ugly to fit in. She tries to make friends with fellow ducklings, frogs, cats and even a fox, but is realizing she is not like any of these animals – leaving her feeling sad and alone. The ballet follows the duckling on her journey as she overcomes her troubles and realizes that she was beautiful all along. This retelling of the famous Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale, The Ugly Duckling, is the perfect opportunity for children and families to enjoy live ballet and theatre together. Apart from the ballet dancers, this performance stars 18 children from the ages of 5 to 8. Productions like this will awaken children to enjoy live ballet and love the magic of dance and ballet.

A star of the world stage, the Ju Percussion Group’s signature concert, Stunning Virtuosity features full of modern, experimental, and cross-disciplinary elements that transcend the boundaries between classical, modern, world, pop, and other musical genres. Supported by Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand
  • BREAK THE TANGO/HIP HOP, Argentina and Switzerland on September 22 (7.30pm) & September 23, 2018 (2.30 pm): Epic mix of tango, break dance, hip-hop & live music.  ‘Break The Tango’ blends tango with break dance for a pulsating show that brings together two completely different styles of dance while breaking all the rules. Supported by Embassy of Argentina and Switzerland
  • TAJ EXPRESS, Bollywood Musical, India on September 28 (7.30pm) & September 29, 2018 (2.30 pm): This Bollywood extravaganza will take the audience on an exhilarating journey with the movements, rhythms, and colours of India. The show is all about stunning dancing, mesmerizing music, spectacular lighting, and elaborate costumes, with fast-paced choreography that brings together classical and pop styles. The story line is derived from a typical Bollywood movie, so expect a lot of action and Bollywood razzle-dazzle. Supported by Embassy of India
  • MICHAEL JACKSON TRIBUTE CONCERT, USA and Europe on October 8, 2018 (7.30pm): The ‘King of Pop’ is reborn in this special tribute concert that marks the 60thbirthday of the world’s greatest entertainer. On the set list are all his greatest hits from solo albums like Thriller, as well as his early chart-toppers with the Jackson 5.
