Colour Miles for Smiles 2016: Neon Edition

The annual Colour Miles for Smiles charity 5K run returns on Saturday, 9 April — with a twist! Instead of running in the daylight, this year’s runners will start at 7pm and be showered with glow-in-the-dark paint as they complete laps at Lumpini Park to raise money for the Operation Smile Foundation. The event is being organized by 11 international schools in Bangkok, including  NIST, ISB, BPS, HIS, RIS, STA71, STA107, Regents Bangkok, KIS, TCIS, and Concordian. Admission to this “neon” edition is 800 baht, which includes a T-shirt, waterproof bag, wristband, glowsticks and glow powder, as well as food and drinks.

Colour Miles for Smiles started out in 2013: “It was literally a bright and brilliant idea conceived by several SMILE Club student leaders from various international schools in Bangkok, to celebrate the beginning of spring vacation by bringing students and families from 9 different schools throughout Bangkok to help fundraise for Operation Smile.”

The 2016 fundraising goal is 3.3 million baht, which is more than double of 2015’s 1.5 million baht goal. All proceeds from this student-led fundraiser will go towards Operation Smile Thailand to provide free surgeries to repair cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities for underprivileged children throughout the country.

For more information, including registration for the run, please go to the event page. Also, learn more about Operation Smile Thailand by visiting their website.
