Urgent Food Drive by Gift of Happiness Foundation

The Gift of Happiness Foundation (GoHF) is in great need of food supplies for 400 ethnic Shan hill-tribe people living in a small refugee camp in north Thailand. The group has recently lost their food supplies as a long-term donor group pulled out of their food support program. The foundation will take donations at several drop-off points, including their charity shop in Sukhumvit 77, On-nut Soi 36, Suan Luang district, with plans to deliver the food on November 26, 2017. Specifically, they are asking for dried food, tinned food, tinned fish, and bags of rice or pasta.

Bring any amount of food to the Go Happiness Centre in Bangkok by November 24, or send a cash donation to buy food and fuel for the delivery. GoHF will directly donate all the food to the people in the camp. For more info or to volunteer with this project, please contact [email protected].

GoHF is dedicated to giving happiness through slap-stick comedy shows and providing essential goods to poor children and families in Bangkok and throughout Thailand. The idea of starting this charity was born in 1992 by British and Swedish born circus performers, Eddie & Charlotte Haworth, when they ran circus training workshops for disadvantaged kids in Liverpool, UK. In 2000, Eddie was invited to perform at a charity event held at the British Embassy in Bangkok. Following that performance and a few more for local slum kids, he decided to bring more gifts of laughter and educational entertainment to orphans and poor families in Thailand.

Now supported by a team of dedicated volunteers, GoHF is not tied to helping just a few children at only one location; this unique charity has the freedom to provide joy to thousands of children in urban and remote locations throughout the country. In addition to regularly giving simple interactive and educational comedy shows to those whose lives quite often contain little joy, they also give away tons of essential goods at least once a month, delivered where it’s needed most.

GoHF also accepts donations of gently used kids and adult clothing, towels, bedding, toiletries, education supplies, medical equipment, bicycles, toys and books. Donate here, or pick up can be arranged if you have a lot of things. Please contact the foundation for details.
