Cooking Classes for Kids & Teens

Enrol your kids in some fun cooking classes this summer (and hopefully, they’ll be whipping up tasty dishes at home in no time!). Below are some classes specially geared for children and teens.

1. Super Chef
Taking place at St. Andrews Sathorn, from 27 June to 15 July 2016, Super Chef is a program for kids ages 6 to 12. Here, they will learn how to cook a variety of dishes from start to finish. They will also understand how to navigate the ins and outs of a busy kitchen, learning basic safety, hygiene and procedures. This summer, the course will be run by Chef Christine, who trained at Le Cordon Bleu, Dusit, following Head Chef Tim Ong’s standards for Super Chef Camp Asia.

2. L’école Bangkok Cooking School
Chef Florence Compain will be running her popular cooking camp for kids and teenagers from 29 June to 8 July 2016, and from 4 August 12 to August 2016. From 10am-12pm each day, children will cook savoury or sweet treats and dine on the lunch they’ve prepared from scratch. Chef Florence also offers 2-hour workshops on request; parents can select they child’s favourite dessert and/or dish for the class.

3. Décor Craft Studio
For on-demand cooking classes in a home-like atmosphere, check out Decor Craft Studio. Popular past workshops included Japanese Obento (lunch box), Thai cooking (fried rice, soup, stir fried pork & veggies), Japanese curry and Tonkatsu, pizza (making the sauce and dough from scratch), bread baking, Japanese sweets, and vegetable cookies. Classes run from 2 to 3 hours, and the studio can customise the menu and course upon request if there are more than three students.

4. Dandelion Bake and Picnic
Dandelion café is conveniently situated at a walking distance from BTS station Thong Lor, right between Soi 49 and 51. Children and adults who enjoy baking are welcome to join workshops of scrumptious choices, including cupcakes, scones, and brownies. All ingredients and appliances are provided for the 3-hour session. Visitors can also enjoy the shop’s cozy setting, breakfast and dessert menu, and variety of juices, coffee, or tea. Check for info on upcoming workshops on the cafe’s Facebook page.

5. A Little Something

Classes at this popular kids’ cooking school are always a winner. Sessions are aimed at children aged 3 to 12 with a weekly class and a cooking camp available during school holidays. If you have older children, there’s a ‘Teen Chef Culinary Course’ for 13 to 17 year olds. Got a celebration or birthday coming up? The ‘Family Cooking Workshop’ is ideal as everyone gets to create their own cake. A Little Something has multiple branches in the city, including Sukhumvit 49 and Ratchapruk.

6. Chefu Town

Geared for kids ages 3 to 10, Chefu Town offers a creative cooking curriculum based on ‘Japanese Visual Learning’, a concept that optimises right and left brain learning. With classes from 10am to 7pm, young cooks can whip up beautiful and tasty dishes such as Little Rabbit Curry Rice, Rainbow Sandwich, Teddy Bear Pizza and Deco Cookies. The school boasts two locations: Central Ladprao (8th floor, Education Zone) and Central Eastville (2nd floor, B2S).
